Privacy Policy

School Squad is run by Plot & Root LLC (Iowa). This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what a group calendar needs, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.

What we collect

Account info: your email address and the name you choose to show.
Family info: your family name and the other adults you add. Kids’ names are optional; you can use a nickname or leave them out.
Group content: events, lessons, RSVPs, posts and settings you or your group add.
Billing info: which plan you’re on, your payment and free-trial status, and the last 4 digits of your card (to show in reminders). To keep it to one free trial per family, we keep a record of which emails and cards (a Stripe card ID, not the card number) have used a trial. Stripe handles payments; we never see or store your full card number.
Basic technical data: a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in, and standard logs (like IP address and browser type) used for security and fixing problems.

Children’s privacy

Accounts are for adults only. We don’t knowingly let children under 13 create accounts or collect personal information directly from them. Any information about children (such as an optional first name, or which events your family is attending) is added by their parent or guardian, who controls it. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.

How we use it

To run your group’s calendar and show it to the members of your group.
To send sign-in codes, invites, and important account or billing emails, including a trial-ending reminder 7 days before a free trial ends and a renewal reminder 14 days before each yearly renewal. We don’t send marketing emails without asking.
To process payments and handle billing questions.
To keep the service safe and working.

Who can see it

Your group: members of a group can see that group’s events, RSVPs, and family names. Hosts and co-hosts can also see members’ email addresses and billing status for the group.
Service providers who help us run School Squad: Cloudflare (hosting, database, and sending email; your data is stored with Cloudflare) and Stripe (payments).
If required by law, or to protect someone’s safety.

We never sell your personal information or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except billing records we must keep for tax and accounting.

Your choices

Export: ask us for a copy of your data.
Delete: ask us to delete your account and data.
Correct: update your name and family details anytime in the app.

Email hello@schoolsquad.app from the address on your account and we’ll respond within 30 days.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), one-time email sign-in codes instead of passwords, and limit who can see what. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care with your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.

Changes

If we make important changes, we’ll email you before they take effect.
